Overview

Metropolis Healthcare operates over 4,000 collection centers and 220+ labs across 21 countries, making it one of India’s largest diagnostics networks. Like most multi-location healthcare organizations, Metropolis faced a core digital challenge, i,e., how to drive qualified patient traffic at scale across dozens of local markets simultaneously without violating Google’s content quality standards for health-related websites (YMYL/E-E-A-T guidelines) or creating internal competition between location-level pages.Techmagnate, a full-service digital marketing agency with a specialized healthcare vertical, was engaged to solve this. The mandate covered organic search growth, local SEO for multi-location visibility, and technical infrastructure, delivered from Jul 2022 through Dec 2022.

    Increased from 17% to 40% (135% improvement).
    In competitive diagnostics markets where 5–6 national chains compete for the same symptom and test queries, moving from 17% to 40% SOV represents a shift from marginal visibility to market leadership in organic search.
  • Keyword Rankings 
    215% improvement in total keywords ranked in the top positions.
    This included both high-volume transactional terms (direct appointment drivers) and informational queries (brand-building and early-funnel awareness).
  • Featured Snippets
    29 keywords ranked in Google Featured Snippets, the zero-position result that appears before all organic listings.
    For healthcare queries, Featured Snippets carry disproportionate click-through rates because patients trust the prominently displayed answer. Achieving 29 snippets in a 6-month period represents one of the most impactful visibility gains available in organic search for healthcare content.

Key Strategies implemented

Healthcare digital marketing requires a fundamentally different strategic approach from standard SEO. Google classifies health-related content under YMYL (Your Money or Your Life),  meaning it applies stricter quality evaluation, rewarding pages with demonstrable medical authority (E-E-A-T: Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) and penalizing thin or misleading content more severely than in other industries.

For Metropolis Healthcare, Techmagnate implemented four integrated strategies:

  • KEYWORD STRATEGY: MATCHING PATIENT SEARCH INTENT
    Healthcare keyword research requires separating two distinct user intents: transactional intent (patients ready to book, for example, ‘thyroid test cost’, ‘book urine test online’) and informational intent (patients researching symptoms, for example, ‘high ESR symptoms’, ‘home remedies for diarrhea’). We mapped each keyword cluster to specific page types; service/pricing pages for transactional terms and authoritative blog content for informational terms, ensuring Metropolis captured patients at every stage of the decision journey.
  • CONTENT ARCHITECTURE: SERVICE PAGES + AUTHORITY CONTENT
    We created a two-tier content structure.
    Tier 1: Transactional service pages optimized for ‘test name + cost/price/book’ queries.
    Tier 2: Long-form informational articles written by medical editors, structured to earn Featured Snippets.
    29 keywords were successfully ranked in Featured Snippets, directly increasing click-through rates for high-volume health queries.
  • MULTI-LOCATION LOCAL SEO: SOLVING KEYWORD CANNIBALIZATION
    A critical challenge in multi-location healthcare SEO is cannibalization, where a national service page competes with local pages for the same query. ‘Urine test’ and ‘Urine test in Delhi’ were competing against each other. We resolved this by establishing canonical page hierarchies and implementing geo-specific structured data, so Google’s crawlers could distinguish which page to rank for which intent.
  • TECHNICAL SEO: HEALTHCARE-GRADE SCHEMA AND MOBILE OPTIMIZATION
    We deployed schema markup for medical pricing and FAQs, a particularly high-value implementation for healthcare, where pricing transparency is a key conversion factor. Mobile responsiveness was prioritized because 68%+ of healthcare-related searches in India originate from mobile devices.
