Before we get to the point of determining whether PPC or Pay Per Click is actually the new emerging face of e-marketing or online marketing, let us first break down into simple terms, what a PPC campaign actually means.
A Pay Per Click campaign, also known as a cost per click campaign is an online marketing strategy employed by advertisers and marketers where they pay a specific amount each time one of their ads is clicked. Let’s say as an advertiser, you have placed your ad on a website that might be relevant to the product or service that you provide. The website will display your ad and each time a visitor clicks on your ad, you have to pay a pre-determined amount to the owner of the site.
For the most part however, PPC packages are targeted towards popular search engines like Google. All search engines have a section for sponsored links and advertisers bid to get their ad placed in that section. Consequently they also pay the search engine a small fee for each click on their ad.
PPC campaigns have found favor with marketers and businesses alike and this is the reason that they have been increasing in popularity over time. This kind of marketing campaign is a key player in the overall online marketing strategy of a business.
The reasons for the growth and popularity of PPC campaigns are many:
-Going with a PPC campaign offers a business immediate visibility when it comes to search. Because being visible is one of the key goals of a marketing plan, this benefit is very quantifiable and worthy.
-PPC campaigns can help you rank for keywords that might otherwise be difficult to optimize. This is done with the help of tools such as Google AdWords and is very helpful if your business provides niche services that are hard to find searchable keywords for.
-Including a Pay Per Click campaign in your online marketing campaign will help you generate and attract qualified and relevant leads. Since the websites that you place the ad on will be catering to a niche audience who would in all likelihood be interested in your product or service, if they do click on the ad, they will be serious about it. Ditto for search engines as your ad will only come up as part of search query related to your business.
-One of the biggest reasons why PPC campaigns do well is the fact that they are relatively easy to track. Their success is measurable and it is easy to quantify the ROI.
Calling Pay Per Click the new face of E-marketing is not completely correct, as this method has been around for a while. In saying so, the fact that it is growing consistently and providing the desired results is definitely testimony to the fact that its power in the online marketing world cannot be underestimated.
