Google, on October 5, 2012, through a Tweet by Matt Cutts, announced the release of Google Penguin 3. The latest Google Penguin Update will ‘noticeably affect’ 0.3% of English-language queries. This follows Penguin 1 which was released on April 24, 2012, and which impacted 3.1% of English-language queries and Google Penguin Update 2, which was released on May 26 and which impacted less than 0.1% of English-language queries.
Google Penguin Update 3 is a ‘data refresh’ of Google’s Penguin spam-fighting algorithm. The Penguin Update was introduced by Google to decrease the ranking of websites that violated its Webmaster Guidelines – sites using Black Hat SEO tactics like cloaking, being involved in link schemes, creating duplicate content, and keyword stuffing.
Other than English, Google Penguin Update 3 will also alter results for websites in Chinese, Arabic and German. The impact of the data refresh is likely to be higher on languages where webspam is more rampant. There are a lot of sites that use free online translation tools to simply convert English language content into other languages. The quality of the translation is not very good and the sites didn’t bother creating original content in their own language. These sites are most likely to be affected.
If your website has been affected consider enlisting an SEO company for Google Penguin recovery services. An SEO expert will go back to the basics, starting by thoroughly analyzing your backlinks ‘ identifying links from bad neighborhoods, disavowing links, ensuring anchor text variation. Once the cleaning has been done, they will undertake link building with particular emphasis on building quality inbound links. Hiring a dedicated seo expert for Google Penguin recovery services is advantageous in that they will know what is needed from training and experience. You will save money since you won’t need an in-house team for the job, and you get to concentrate on your business.
